It is designed to cover the techniques in contemporary compositions.______________________________________David Baldwin is Professor of Trumpet at the University of Minnesota School of Music in Minneapolis, a position he has held since 1974. He conducts the University Brass Choir, an 18-member ensemble which has several recordings to its credit. Baldwin is an active soloist, ensemble player, composer, arranger, and teacher. He has over 100 arrangements and compositions published by Theodore Presser Company and many other leading publishers. Baldwin also serves as leader of the Summit Hill Brass Quintet which has recorded eight CDs.Dr. Baldwin received MM, MMA, and DMA degrees from Yale University and a Bachelor of Music degree from Baldwin-Wallace College in Berea, Ohio. From 1969 through 1971 Baldwin was a member of the United States Military Academy Band at West Point, New York. He is also founding Secretary and a member of the Board of Directors of the International Trumpet Guild.The International Trumpet Guild (ITG) has sponsored two recordings of etudes performed by Baldwin: a 2-CD set of Charlier and Bitsch Etudes (1992), and etudes by Arban, Caffarelli, and Charlier (1999). Dr. Baldwin has more recently recorded Top Tones by Walter Smith, 27 Melodious and Rhythmical Exercises by J.S. Small, and the Twelve Grand Artistic Studies by August St. Jacome.Baldwin’s teachers include Robert Nagel, Raymond Crisara, William Vacchiano, Bernard Adelstein, Charles Gorham, and Eric Duro. He has performed with the St. Paul Chamber Orchestra, the Minnesota Orchestra, and the Bach Chamber Players of St. Paul.Dr. Baldwin lives in St. Paul with his wife, Dr. Christine Baldwin, a clinical psychologist. He is an active calligrapher and has had many sponsored shows of his artwork. .
