I can't tell you how valuable this websight is to me. So let me help if possible. A request was given in the most recent issue of cowpie. The Nelsons asked for " The Church In The Wildwood " and I sent it to them directly but the sight should get it as well. This is Roger Owens interpretation of an old hymn from the Cokesbury Worship hymnal. It appears to be written by Dr. Wm. S. Pitts The Church in The Wildwood G D There's a church in the valley in the wildwood G No lovelier spot in the dale, C G No place is so dear to my childhood D G-C-G As the little brown church in the vale G D Chorus: Come to the church in the wildwood G Oh, come to the church in the vale C G No spot is so dear to my childhood D G-C-G As the little brown church in the vale G D Oh, come to the church in the wildwood G To the trees where the wildflowers bloom C G Where the the parting hymn will be chanted D G-C-G We will weep by the side of the tomb G D How sweet on a clear sabbath morning G To list to the clear ringing bell, C G It's tones so sweetly are calling D G-C-G Oh, come to the church in the vale Repeat Chorus G D From the church in the valley by the wildwood D G When day fades away into night C G I would fain from this spot of my childhood D G-C-G Wing my way to the mansions of light Repeat chorus My apologies to the Nelsons for leaving out a verse. My Father-In-law passed away in Feb. of this year due to cancer. I sang this at his funeral because it was an old favorite but my wifes' family asked me to leave out the second verse because it was too close to home.
